Mittwoch 26th April 2007 - UK Banks ROOCCKKK

Turn uuuuuup the heat!!!!!!

Never even realised the heat we had today.. was indoors til 4pm without a clue! Ja, Ja, I know.. you told me Jools, but it was gorgeous in the sun. Slept late and lazed around, breakie in bed etc.. then at 4pm went for coffee then icecream.. then back to Jools. Soon after it was 8pm and I called my bank for a EU Transfer. Interesting that they charged me £17.50 to move money to Julians account here in Germany.. yet he found an article for the EU Commission stating that any funds moved around EU banks should cost the same as moving money around banks in your own country. In all, it should be free!!!! We called the bank back with this info... 'OOOhh, you got me there, interesting.. I don't know anything about that, sorry'. The lady transferring my money earlier was even more useless.. think Jools got a nice impression of the professionalism of our bank workers :) The guy mentioned this might be the next uproar after the 'bank charges chaos'. So we'll see what happens. Exciting. Hehe..

So home by 10:30pm and had some dinner with Will.. ended up chatting til midnight.. and here I am!

Oh, and had a really sore eye today.. strange..

Dienstag 25th April 2007 - Gotta learn Deutsch

The first thing I noticed about today was how many niiice people I met on the street who were speaking to me in German.. if only I could communicate. I understood what they were saying, but all I could do was smile back at them, or giggle. Useless. And rude :-(

Had uni stuff this morning, but afterwards, cleaned my room up a little and enjoyed a nice baggette whilst checking some flights home. Went to town to meet Julian, at the BK and had a coffee at a place built specially for girls. I had a pink marshmallow coffee.. coooool huh. Julian booked a trip to Berlin for the 5th of May for him, Andreas & I, so we went to Thalia to check out some guide books. In the end I got a book on Berlins history which is way better. Should be a cool trip.. looking forward to it.

Jools headed to work at 4:30pm and I went to a few shops..

The end of the night consisted of a long stroll around toom, a trip back to Julians and cooking for the next 2 hours. I really, really enjoy it. So much more than eating it. Had some vino.. then out came the Jagermeister.. and then shes drunk! Everytime! Haha..

Montag 24th April 2007

Isn't it a beautiful night in Ham??? Well for those in Glasgow.. it really is. All day has been warm, but dull. Really nice actually - the kind of weather that comes from days after heavy sunshine - the airs thick. When I was walking home from Altona at 1am, the smell was GLORIOUS!!!! Anyhoooooooo y'all..

Today, this morning, was weiiird. Jools had to get up for uni at 9am, but when the alarm went off, I felt like I was on drugs.. but OF COURSE I WASNT. I just felt soo bad. Then snoozed for another couple of hours til 11am. Fiiiinally got up, but my eyes felt like 2tonne weights. Met Britta 30mins later at Hansbacker, but decided to go to Sontigo for breakfast and have a nice assortment of cheese, meats, breads and eggs. Ahh, nice start to the day. I actually havnt seen her properly for over a week, so was a catch up session with coffee and headed home for 2pm. By the time I got home, picked up some essentials (and watermelon), done a washing, chatted to Will and blogged a little.. I was already late for meeting Andreas and Britta. As usual! Where does the time go??? Britta came round while I was getting ready and had a look through my pics - taking her pic from pictures of some male-friends back home. Hehe, funnie, funnie. We met Andreas in Altona as I had a little surprise for him. Seeing as he's coming to Scotland soon.. I thought he should try Haggis. And he did! Found a nice little Scottish pub serving really nice food.

The food was delicious - and the yummiest cauliflower-cheese iv had in agggesss. (Doesnt beat yours mum). Andreas, i think, didnt love his haggis, but ate most of it.. and Britta was too full from her cauliflower to eat her bacon sarnie. The owners were really nice.. and got chatting to them for pretty much the entire night. By the end I wanted to strangle the Dennistoun man for talking constantly. But nice guy - and gave us a free shot of something weird.. an excuse to come sit with us for a gab i think. We were the only ones sat down in the bar - hopefully not a normal Monday night for them or their business is going down the tube. shiesse..

Got to the train station and waited for the next one on some deckchairs in the dark.. arriving back at Christus at 1am, enjoying the smelly air.. mmm

Sonnerstag 22nd April 2007

Today wasnt tooo late a start in the day considering the roughage of last night! Wake up call from Jools who was wanting to go enjoy the sun. So Andreas and I got up and chatted for a bit before heading off to Schlump. We were 10mins early for our train so got a morning roll and watched a group filming a couple standing together in a circle of flowers.. weird :) But turns out they were filming a shirt-movie for a viewing at a bar in the Shanze that evening. Intended on going, but the night came in pretty quickly and everyone kinda chilled and sleepy. Got to Julians and went for some wake-up coffee near his place. Realising how toasty the day was becoming we grabbed a blanket and headed to the Alster for some sunbathing. Stopping off to clean up the vespa and pick up some drinks. Counted two sausage dogs at the park.. one running about right next to us. soooooooooo cute. hm, so roadster or dach? difficult. so so difficult. luckily i dont have to choose :)

Not too long after we went for a vespa drive but had a bit of an accident on the way because of some silly, upper-nosed todd. Called the police and everything. Of course I was completely useless not knowing what they were talking about and when. Stoopid, stoopid guy. But both of us are alive and kicking, so its not the worst that could have happened. After all that, we headed off to see the planes landing, but unfortunately, none were coming down. Went to another spot where they wouldnt stop coming down.. and a random but lovely little cafe in the middle of motorway selling coffee, icecream and pretzels. At the back of the cafe you could sit on the bench and have a fantastic view of the planes.. so we did. For about an hour then headed back to Winterhude. Had a look around the video store and left with the idea to download Topgun.. can u beleive i've never seen it?

We got some croques for dinner - which are lovely warm baggettes filled with whatever you want. Couldnt eat much - i think because i was so so sleepy. That weird feeling again, where its almost impossible to keep my eyes open. We chilled on for a while, Jools downloading a movie and Sims 2. I went for a 30min snooze and woke to watch 'Top Gun'. Managed to stay awake for the most part - cool movie :)

Was weird today though, when I saw the planes I kept thinking about leaving, hows it gonna be so strange..

Samtag 21st April 2007 - J's Bday Bash

J's Flat cleaning.. J's Birthday Bash.. Home for rolls with Andreas at 6am.. Wastedness

Freitag 20th April 2007 - Almost won at ISS.. almost

Had to give our little baby back again. It was difficult.. But all sorted by 12noon and took a little trip to Media Markt for a look at hairdryers.. yes for Julians and his looong locks :) Ended up staying there for agggesss and got quite involved in a game of ISS - Julian only winning because I scored an 'own goal' - But I was surprisingly good for a first timer!!!! We strolled around a bit and headed back to J's flat, ate some homemade currywurst, napped and later shopped for his party..

Donnerstag 19th April 2007 - Happy Birthday Jools

Happy birthday to you... Happy Birthday to you.. Happy Birthday dear Julian, Happy birthday to you!
Hip hip.. HHHHHHHHHHOOOOOORRRRAAYYYYYYYY. 26 but looking a young 25;)

Day started early when the birthday boy demanded OJ>> 'Because its my birthday..' Good excuse. I had things to arrange so got up and fiddled about for a while, trying to arrange a stooopid car with a stooopid company. In the end, Julian knew a really good company and we had a car arranged in 3 minutes. Bit of a shame because I was hoping to surprise.. but nevermind :) We got to StarCar and our car was broken - but they could give us the Roadster instead. It was soooo cool. I love it. I waaant one now. Even said that choosing between a roadster and dach would be difficult. Uhhoh. Running late we headed to his birthday pressie. So funny as he had noo idea what was going on and the guys at the place were so discreet. The look on his face was priceless.. and caught on video. Hee hee. The view was amazing from the plane and again.. the look on Jools face, even better - like a kid at Christmas. He controlled the plane for 80% of the time which was so much better than expected.

When he had to go to work, it was my turn to drive. Thank goodness it was automatic and soon enough I was zoooming around the city. In the beginning I was terrified. Wrong side of the road, German wording on signs and noo idea on my way around. It took me 20minutes, but I made it to Andreas at the Grindel and we blazed off for some coffee by the Elbe. Just a flying visit and I had to do some shopping for tonight. I got home, showered, made the birthday cake and headed to Jools at 9pm. Popped the sparkly and done the cake.. then headed to the Spanish resteraunt - Portomarin - for dinner. oooooooohhhh.. what a place. The food was amazing. And theee best wine I have even tasted. Only 9euros to buy and take home, so we did.. two bottles. But i think because the wine was so good, I wasn't hugely hungry - just little tastes of the food was enough, so rich too. But delicious, really, really lovely. Spent about 20mins finding a parking space afterwards and eventually did. Opened some wine back at his and silly me wanted her 9euro bliss, so put it in the freezer.. fell asleep.. and somehow the next morning, it was all over the fridge. Nice one Debs..

I love the Roadster.

Happy Birthday Julian, hope it was a good one :)

Mittwoch 18th April 2007 - Goodbye April 18th

Okaaay, so I was a little drunk. Feeling slightly rough I made my way home around midday. Had some things to arrange for a certain someones birthday.. so spent most of my day doing that. (The problem with not blogging in a week is that you forget what happened in your day). Sadly this day will always be lost..

But in the evening I spent hours bebo'ing with Kennnna-baby catching up on almost 2months of gossip and chat.. My flatmates had their dinnerparty tonight which I didnt really feel like joining. But after the meal I had some drinks with them, sitting in the kitchen gabbing til the earlyish hours. Drunkan Jools on his birthday-drinks-night popped over at a horrible 5am when I was in zombie mode, ready for the day ahead.

Easy blogging today.. I should forget what I do more often. So much easier!

Dienstag 17th April 2007

As I said.. today I woke up laaate. But felt sleepy all day. Arrived home at midday.. and picked up some essentials at Penny Markt - some guy put his hands around my eyes and didnt say a word.. quite scary considering I know maybe 20 people here. But thank gaaawd it was one of my flatmates. He was shopping for tonights dinnerdate. Opppppps. Dinnerdate - i forgot! Done some uni work then met andreas in town after he finished work. We didnt have much time, but went for some proper tea at Turnhalle (but even then it was ruuubiishh.. TETLEYS I MISS YOU). We chatted for an hour and walked back to the bus stop. I had only 1.5hours to decide what I was going to cook.. get to the shops, find all the ingredients, cook it, shower.. aahhh.

I managed! At 8:30pm my stuffed peppers were almost ready - but noone else was there.. weird huh :) Will came home from work and laughed, pointing to the memo on the wall saying it was delayed until tomorrow. Gutted! But then headed over to Julians.. hes always hungry, he he. He drowned them in pepper and managed to eat 4 of 6. So it wasnt a total waste. And i enjoyed making them. I doo like to cook. We had some vino with the dinner.. which turned into Jagermeister - and not because I was wasted, but cant remember what happened - it was almost a week ago!! But I think some chatting and even a game of Backgammon :)

Montag 16th April 2007 - Sausage City

(I have a theory.. that the Hamburg president guy imported every mini-dach they could get their hands on and placed them in and around the city.. JUST TO UPSET ME!!!!!! I have never seen so many in all my 21 years of life. Its crazy. And it drives me crazy!)

The blogging begins: Its soooooooo hot. Im trying to be good and do uni today, but its so so so difficult. I have both french doors open in my room and sitting up against my railing. And im toasting.. literally :)

Really nice start to the day on the way home from Julians.. he left for uni at 9:30am and I grabbed a viva Italia und wasser in the sun.. I then treated myself to some special Tempo Tissues with fragrance from Edeka. Seeing as I go through 5 packs a day, I may as well do it in style..

The first cool thing I noticed whilst waiting on the bus was a group of kindergartens getting taken to the park. They were soooo cute, and at that perfect age where they sit quietly with a big smile.. getting pulled along on a big wagon. I stood watching them giggling for the 6minute wait for my bus. Adorable!

Next I was on the bus and an old couple.. maybe around 85years old got off at Semperstrasse. I watched them step down off the bus and the lady reaching for her husbands hand.. then smile at him. They put such a huge smile on my face.. sweeeeet couple. It then made me think of the fact that I always notice in resteraunts and cafes when an older couple are together, they usually sit in silence.. eat their food and dont even look at each other. But now and then you see the couple who have obviously been married for 50+ years but still appreciate each other.. they talk and laugh. I always look at them in awe.. so impressive. Theres a saying, 'theres no miracle about love at first sight. its love and laughter after 50 years thats the miracle' It always pops into my head in these situations..

I know its only 1pm, and iv already blogged a full days worth of reading for you all, but.. im sorry to say, I will be back later to blog more. Sorry, and goodbye.. for now ;)
.......................
What a lot of rubbish i talk sometimes.. Met Andreas and Julian in the Shanze for some drinks in the sun.. around 7pm Andreas & I went for dinner at a Tex-Mex on the Reeperbahn. We ate waaay too much and chatted for a few hours before heading back to his around 10:30pm for a movie night. He made the most awful tea iv ever tasted.. but its okay, i told him how bad it was :) We then popped on 'a good year' but within 15mins I was sleeping. Think I was feeling a little ill, and meeega tired. But I slept pretty much all the way through and right passed the last train home. So stayed and woke up at 11:30am on Tuesday.. waaay too much sleep. But still feeling tired.. uughh

Sonntag 15th April 2007 - My first...

Suuuch a cool day: I've seen the Hamburg countryside with the most beautiful houses, skooted the vespa down a country lane (yes, me driving), tried my first spezi, tasted my first Hamburg-grown apple, made it through the Elbe Tunnel in one piece.. for the first time, attended my first German Fayre, experienced sheer terror on a ghost house ride (honestly.. I was screaming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!), giggled my way through a rollercoaster, witnessed Julian prisoner to a baby-ride that made him feel queasy before he even got on ;) enjoyed a cold Alsterwasser with the smell of currywurst in the air, watched Julian win me Deutshman on the impossible claw-machines on his first try and then go on to win pretty much everything else, everytime. Oh some more firsts: tried these yuuummiiiee doughnut cubes and later, my first traditional Spagel dish...

and all with the lovely Jools.. on the Vespa.. on the hottest day of the year so far!

The trip started at 2pm, we vespa'd out of the city to the countryside which took about 45mins.. I think. Maybe even an hour or longer before we first stopped. But the weather was perfect and we were on the VESPA, so really, it was awesome. Made our first stop at a cafe converted from an old windmill and had some drinks. We walked around the town a little and checked out the ammmazing houses. So detailed and well built. In the words of T-Bag, 'Preeeetty'. Very, very pretty. We vespa'd to the next spot which was on top of a hill overlooking the water. Still with the perfect weather, all the families of their bikes enjoying the sunshine.. a little boy playing with his kite and planes flying over our heads.. it was nice :) A little spezi break and Jools munching on an apple.. we were off. This time stopped on a quiet country lane with only one car passing every 10mins. And then guess what happened? I tried to ride the vespa alone, but not strong enough to hold it up.. haaaaaaa. Jools hopped on, but same problem again with him weighing one side down. In the end we found a way and I was driving, soooo much fun!

Vespa, Vepsa, Vespa, OI OI OI

Jools took over.. he wouldnt let me drive home.. HOW UNFAIR??? Arrived back in the city around half6 and passed the Hamburger Dom. It looked coool.. and huge. I thought it would be 1/10 of the size it was. We went in a walked around. Veggie Jools too much of a girl to go on any of the rides in the beginning. Eventually had a go on the rollercoaster which was funnniie. Next was the ride that just goes round, and round, and round.. but faster and faster, i loooove it. I love all rides. Also did a few games, and can you beleive, Julian won a teddy on his first try of the claw machine, I couldnt beleive it. After a couple more games I had in total, two teddies and three roses.. difficult to carry. Julians just tooooo coooooool huh. haha! Actually, dont tell him I told you all this.. but.. well, you know the games where you throw a beanbag into heaped tins?? He, ahem, couldnt knock them over.. heh heh heh heh. Oh, but yes, it was because of the teddies hanging above him - they obstructed his throw. A little girl was next to us, knocking them all over in one go ;) Goooooooo Julian!

Had a go on the big wheel and saw some a great view of the city. Afterwards bought some chocolate covered strawberrys and as I said before, yuuummmIIIEEEE doughnut cubes covered in icing sugar. Definately a new favourite. We headed back on the vespa and got back to Julians around 9pm.. hungry and ready for dindins. It took a while.. but at the end Jools made a scrummy German dish with special meat, potatoes, asparagus and sauce. Hit the spot nicely. Had some vino with dinner and went riiiight to my head. The Jager came out soon after, and before I know it, im a little drunkan. And Julian, I think, stone cold sober, hehe, whoops. I took 25 photobooth snaps while Julians did some stuff and then.. I learned how to play backgammon. oooooooohhhhh. Another first I forgot to mention. Close round, but Julian won. But in honesty, I let him win ;)

Cooooooooooooooooooooooool day.
Lots of nice snaps to go along with nice memories. x

Freitag 13th April 2007 - Lucky Friday 13th

Geeeeez.. what to blog about today! Shiesse......

Well, started off well when I met Andreas in town for some fun at Miniature world. This place is pretty unbeleivable - so detailed and of course, everything miniature. Places around the world all scaled down with small situations and stories. One city has a dead man in the river with the police surrounding :)

After a gooood looong look around the world of miniatures, we hopped onto the Vespa for a fun skoot in the sunshine. We were driving.. spontaniously (he he) and saw a sign for the new Elbe tunnel which I had wantedto see for a while.. so Andreas took a left and headed on in. It was a really cool feeling.. warm and breezy inside with lights sparkling from the walls.. but waaaaaaait a minute.. whys the Vespa wobbling at 40kph???????

AAAAaaahhhhhh. Something happened on the road and the tire split. Awful. But Andreas safely pulled it over to the side, warning the cars behind to go around.. and meanwhile I think, 'Oh no, poor tire on the Vespa.. but photo-time'. Admitidly it was pretty silly, but at the time the last thing on my mind was that we were half way through a mile-long tunnel with a broken Vespa. I guess it was pretty dangerous.. so we hiked out using the path at the side, and eventually saw light and walked up towards the 'watch house' for the tunnel. The guys said they were expecting us :) Had saw us on the cameras. He could leave his Vespa there, and told us to walk 15mins to the next bus stop. We walked down the road for 25mins and there was nothingin sight. Just a motorway and ships! We saw a police station, so went there for some directions. The officer told us it was still another 20mins away.. so we asked for a lift from them. Why not huh. The guy was nice and offered us a lift back to town as he was finishing his shift. Off duty we jumped into his cabrio and listened to his dance tunes blazing. so funniiee.. Schnapppiii came on his cd - he was pretty quick to press the skip button on that track :) I was sitting there thinking.. surely not.. this is crazy! But strange/random day! As always with Andreas!

We headed back to Altona for some dinner after the eventful last few hours. Got home a few hours later, packed up and headed over to Julians..

Donnerstag 12th April 2007

Mittwoch 11th April 2007 - Alsterhaus sucks

Jools headed off to uni at 12ish & I met Britta for some shopping in the sun. We had a walk around the city, taking some snaps of the beeeautiful Hamburg and popping into an Apotheke (Pharmacy) for a few things. So funny when I had to buy pills and potions for about 5 different things - the lady behind the counter had the funniest expression - almost like, 'your falling apart, ha ha ha'. But of course not serious issues, which is why she was laughing - im making her sound like an evil shoplady laughing at my problems :) she was lovely! We did some returns, prettied up in MAC makeup and headed for coffee in the Alsterhaus. When we got there we realised that there was noo chance of just picking up a coffee when the food looked sooo good. So two large plates and two large cokes it was! Oh, and strawberrys and cream to help it go down, hahaha, such a piiieeee.

BUT>>> Absolutely looving the plate of heaveness - I saw what looked like a black hair wrapped around a beef strip.. IT WAS A BLACK HAIR WRAPPED AROUND A BEEF STRIP.. oh geez, my stomach is turning at the thought. Made me feel sick to the stomach. So the guy let me swap the plate over for another one.. this time stayed well clear of it. Yuk.

We headed back to Mulenkamp and went to Sontigo for a coffee. Britta got herself a trial for a job there and we gabbed for an hour or so before I headed back to Schaferkampsallee for some relaxation. Headed to Jools later on that night for home-made currywurst.. admitidly, really yummy :) We watched some 24, chiiled out.. snooooooozed. Perfect way to end the day!

Dienstag 10th April 2007

Just noticed my blog entries are getting bigger and bigger. I'm guessing that means their getting moooore boring and annoying to read, so i'll try keep them shorter. Maybe even a little sweeter ;)

So today we woke up about 12ish and went out for Breakfast at TH2 on Mullenkamp. The sun was popping out now and then, so was nice to sit outside with scrambled eggs and mixed platter of cheese & meats. mmmm. I doo love German breakfasts. But sooo not good for the waist. Mum you were right.. toootally not being good with food. Can't resist. Anyhoo, Julio had to jet off to work, so he dropped me off by the Alster with his camera..

It turned out to be a reeally lovely day so I wanted to walk home. Walking around the Alster I think takes 1.5hours, but it took me that length of time to walk 1/3 of it. I took 300 pictures of the beautifulness and stopped off every now and then for a soak of the sunshine. Even saw a Mini-Dach trodding along with a girl my age. So Jealous!

After capturing some fantastic pics of the water and greenery I headed back towards Schaferkampsallee. I got to the Grindel and had no idea which way to go, and wasnt sure how long it would take, so jumped the 115 to Schlump. Soon after I got home, Britta popped round and we took a drive to The Cliff Resteraunt by the Alster. I find myself saying this waaay too much on my blogging. But it was a gorgeous spot! Really gorgeous, so we ordered some grosse colas and lay on the decking chairs by the water. The waitress thought we had a screw loose for wanting to sit outdoors. But we had blankets to curl up in to.. it was refreshing. We then ordered a pizza to share, and again, the waitress just didnt get it!!! 'Here? Outside? But theres no table!' JUST BRING US A PIZZA WO-MAN!!!!!

We gabbed for a few hours and got home about 9pm. I had planned to tidy my room, do some uni work, blog.. but my flatmate Will was having ladiiee problems, so we talked a little and then Julio calls with a Carbonara proposition and oooof course I dont decline, so head round there and enjoy some dinner and sparkly vino. Think we also caught an episode of 24 before the ZZZZZZZZZ's at a decent hour.

Montag 9th April 2007 - 2pm Coffee+Andreas= 9pm

Holiday Monday! Thank goodness for Easter! What a cool day..

Met with Andreas at 2pm for coffee in town. It wasnt the best weather, but we decided to sit on the balcony of the cafe anyway. We had it to ourselves for all of 5 minutes, and suddenly the other 15 tables were full! I thiiink that we were so cool, everyone decided to follow us. Really. Its the only explaination! We had our cappucinos and left for the Ubahn to Langunsbrucken for the Old Elbe Tunnel walk.

It was such a cool place to see.. taking us about half an hour to walk a 10min path. Yes you guessed it - pictures galore. For all you folk back home: the old Elbe tunnel is a tunnel that runs under the Elbe river. Well, back in the day it was used to get across the water and cars would go into an elevator on ground level, which then took then about 400metres downwards. Quite scary actually.. and as you can imagine - with only 4 elevators that can carry 1 car each, its not the most efficient and timely way to travel. Soooo, they have built the newww Elbe Tunnel, only for cars, and the Old one is now decorated with Art hanging on the.. 'oh whats the word again Andreas????? hahahahahaha' - might it be.. ceiling?? Lool. I think he asked for that word at least 6 times today :)
When we got to the other side of the Elbe River, we sat on a wall overlooking the water and mass build up of beautiful houses, hotels, bars and ships. We even saw a ship swimming right by us. Wait.. swimming, is that the right word?????? Heeheeehee. The funniest part of the day with Andreas is always when he uses literal translations for words and of course I always know what he means, but it sounds so funny! We sat there for about an hour i think, watching the boats swim by.. even saw a swimming crane. How strange! We walked back through, snapped some more & had a mini English lesson on "Length and WIDTH, Long and WIDE". Educational and fun :)

We exited the tunnel and went on the search for coffee and fischrolls (yuk). 3 seconds later I saw the cutest little Mini-Dach, which started my pining for the next 30 mins about how much I want one.. Sorry Andreas! We walked along the Harbour checking out all of the shops and cafes, stopping off quickly to buy myself some souvineers, in the form of Flags. One for Hamburg, one for The Deutschland!! Theyre now proudly placed on my wall for the next month. We walked.. and walked.. and walked, to the very end and found a nice little place for some fried potatoes, pretzel and fischrolls (did i already say yuk? then again.. yuuukkkk). Not so nice staff, but yummiie food, and nice views onto the Elbe.. by candelight.. in the daytime. But still, lovely! After a munch we took another long walk down the harbour stopping for a look at the ships, taking some pics and having a gab.. we made our way right to the bottom and realised the ship we were trying to get into, was closed. So we headed back to the Elbe Tunnel area and climbed what must have been 3,000 steps to reach the Hotel Hafen Hamburg where we were going for drinks. After an hour of stair climbing, barely still breathing, we went to the Roof Cocktail Bar which was aweeeeeeesome. On the way up, the views over the city were incredible.. we arrived 3 mins before happy hour ended, so managed to get 2 drinks half price.. mmm. Only an hour later on route to a toilet stop, I passed a window and caught sight of the Hamburger Dom. It.... looked.... ammmmmazing. The entire area was lit up by rides and people. Desperate to go there!!!!!!! We sipped our happy hour cocktails, mine being a yummy apricot fizz then ordered round 2. A thick & fruity banana one for Andreas, and for me.. a surprise. I asked for a champagne one, and he came back with a strawberry champers. So good that I finished it and ordered another by the time Andreas was half way through his..

9pm we said goodbye and parted ways at the beautiful Schlump. I arrived home with just enough time to pop in for a quick shower before heading to Julians to visit ZaZa for moooreee happy-night cocktails. Got there and it was really quiet, which I love. Had a 2 rounds of 'Sex on the Beach', Julio opting for 'Zombie' + with a round of Jagermeister, eeuuugh, but even a little dish of Olives and kaperns to munch on. Think we made our way back to his around 1am... stopping at the park for a slide down the chute and a swing of the swings.

Sonntag 8th April 2007 - Easter Bunnies

Happy Happy Easter Everyone

At half 9 this morn I woke as a zombie.. totally muffled, but still was forced to see to my guest and provide a pint of OJ. Wont forget that at the next sleepover in Peter-Marquard!! Continued sleeping til 11am.. then got up to play some cards before he left at noon. Started work at 6pm, so had some time to relax in bed and blog my weekend. Would you beleive it took me the most part of 3 hours?? And its not that im slooow. Really!

Work started really rubbish tonight. I had 2 tables in the entire pub.. but luckily the crew came in and I had some people to pass the time with. The pub quiz was on from 6-9pm, then the Kareoke began. I spent the entire night standing talking to Rob, with absolutely nothing to do. Two tables.. so lets say 1 drink each ever half hour = boooredom. Rob happens to be studying his masters in Accounting.. so he's offered to help with my exam. Will be really handy actually - as most of you know, Accountings not my strong point, and he seems to know all there is to know about it. Some lessons over a few beers isnt a bad idea eh! The guys were hilarious on Kareoke.. and a German couple - absolutely horrific.. strange thing is, they loved it, putting in a second request as soon as they had finished. Good on them! Finished up around 10pm and stayed with Charlie and Will etc for a few drinks and laughs at the volunteers. A good little giggle indeed. Home for midnight and munching on some grapes..

Missys gone absolutely bonkers.. im just typing up my blog just now and shes screaching and things are falling.. so I go to check on her and dancing on the kitchen worktops. Iv just came back and I can hear her doing it again.. shes an absolute looney.. but maybe thats what happens when you spend all your time in a flat.. alone.. every day. Feel a little sorry for her. But really, shes completely lost it - miiiiiiaaaaoooowwwwwwwwwww

Samtag 7th April 2007 - Easter@Elbe

Woke up around noon today - what a life eh! Its gonna be difficult adjusting to a normal life.. I dont wanna, I dont wanna!

We lazed around til 3ish, having breakfast.. some more scrambled eggs al la Julio. MMmmm.. and headed home for 4pm to Shower for the night ahead. Wasn't too sure where we were going or what was happening, but Julian had something planned.. hmmm. I do love surprises :) We were meeting on the bus at 9:30pm.. I only knew the stop and not the bus number, so as I was approaching t
he stand, a bus pulled up.. I ran for it and jumped on. I couldnt see Julian anywhere, so frantically looked around and the driver was talking to a man, then turned to me, asking for my ticket (In German) - I was all fuzzled, not sure whether I was on the right bus, so told him I had the wrong bus and jumped off. The man got off with me and stood next to me counting all these coins.. for aggessss, and just as the right bus was pulling up, he handed me 1.50Euros and said, 'here, money for ticket' - of course I was like, 'Oh no no no, it was the wrong bus I was on, I have a card, its oookay.. no no' - but he was persistent, so I said thank you.. how sweet. The crazy thing is he looked like he lived on the streets - and he was kind enough to help me out thinking I needed it.. when it looked like he did. Definately made me think. :) Got on the bus and met Jools. Arrived at the destination 10mins later. And it was mobbbbbbed! Still wasnt sure what was happening.. when I asked, he just smiled..

We walked down, through the crowds and almost hit a full-stop. It was so busy with everyone trying to fit onto the path leading into the area.. but funny. Everyone was having a giggle trying to push their way to the front. Me being 5foot3, I couldnt see a thing ahead. To make things more cramped, an ambulance van squeezed its way through the crowds, some guys jumped on the back and hitched a lift.. gooooooood thinking guys. The rest of us jumped in behind the van and trodded along.. When we got through.. I remembed the stories of the Easter Bonfires at the Elbe. Amazing.. the entire stretch of beach was covered with mobs of people and bonfires.. some small for a couple people, some huge and big enough for 50! We walked about 20minutes down the beach, and found a spot that wasnt too busy. Spread the blanket, popped the vino and lay back to enjoy..

Was such a cool place & with a great atmosphere.. but chilly. After only 10mins we were feeling the cold and wished we had a bonfire of our own. The luuuckiest thing happened - the group behind us, got up and left, leaving a perfectly good bonfire in a fantastic spot. Lucky or what. We moved over and enjoyed the heat for 10mins and noticed we needed more wood. Hmm, where to get some wood? Oh look at that - another group next to us were going.. and leaving behind a mass of wood for us to steal and burn. As we would say back home.. Jammmiiiee Basssssies! Veggie Jools did a gooood job of keeping the fire going right through until 2am.. it was like his child.. his precious. Even taking about 20 pics of the fire, 'Look Deebo, its sooooo cool' :-) But it was.. reeeeeeeeally was.

So at 2am, we walked back down the beach.. poor Julian finishing off the 2 bottles of wine minus one glass.. and feeling cheeeeeeky on the walk back, trying to lift me up and throw me in a bonfire. Thats right David, come give him into trouble for me!!!! Heh heh! Absolutely starving at half2, we got to Altona and there it was.. Mcdonalds. Like a bright shining light.. 'Eat me, Eat me' - so we did! Hit the spot and filled the gap! We talked for a while then jumped a taxi back to Schaferkampsallee. Spent the next hour taking videos of a spider walking about my roof..

My first ever Easter-Bonfire.. many thanks :)

Freitag 6th April 2007 - RIP PB2

Strangely enough, woke up quite late on Friday morning.. after a loong snooze the night before. And guess what.. doh doh dohhhhhh.. we finished Prison Break!!!!! But im saad that its come to and end, or more to the point.. too impatient to wait until AUGUST to see PB3. So.. I dedicate this day.. to Prison Break.. the great. I wont forget you. See you in August...........................................................

So the day begins after we finish off the last 4 episodes of PB. Some breakfast and coffee from Mullenkamp was delivered straight to the door.. by a reeeally nice girl ;) Feeling a lil hayfevery, we went for a Vespa trip to Hafencity. A mass new development next to the city centre, not to be finished until 2022. Some of it has been built up; some living in the flats already. Its really cool to see though. Its like Glasgow Harbour back home, except aloooot bigger, and better. he he.. The old warehouses we passed were awesome - you'll see them in the pictures. But they instantly reminded me of a book I read for my 4th year essay studies. I chose a book on Germany after the war, and I still remember whilst reading it, I pictured Germany to be grey and dusty.. with old warehouse buildings built with dark brick. Just now, thats exactly what this area is like. Its cooool. Not sure why I was so eager to come to Germany whilst reading that book though?

We stopped off by the Harbour for a look around at the construction sites by the water. Afterwards, iiii got to skoot the Vespa to the top of the road. It lasted about 1.5minutes, and Julio kept pulling me to the side of the gates by leaning.. but still, I drove the Vespa, I drove the Vespa! We then went to the next point which is a little tower that has been built for everyone to have a nice view of the Hafencity in construction.. great views and even some text in English! Theeeen.. skooted through the Portugese quarter of Ham (reeally fishy) and parked by the Harbour where the boats leave. I took my first boat tour. Happy, Happy. It was blinkin freeeezing though, but only 3 stops & we got off for a coffee. Nice little outdoor place by the water.. so we sat under a heater & blanket and enjoyed the sun popping out before it set. Nice spot. We talked a little about business and our ideas to take take over the world and become millionaires. harhar. I think he may now know too much about my venture.. may have to kill him..

Moany face was cold, so we went for the boat back.. it took ages to come, but I thought it was a nice wait.. waiting on the dock by the water on a breezy April day.. but, moany face was freezing by this time. The boat was pull
ing up and I saw the cutest dog.. it had the softest coat of hair.. (I want one.. booo)

(Geez Julian.. its taking me agggeeesss to blog this day and Im only half way through.. definately the sign of a good day)

Sooo, moving forward, to try finish this beast of a blog. Around 8:30pm we skooted through town to the Hauptbahnhof area for dinner.. I realised on the way there, why I love the Vespa so much: With a car, going through the city.. is nice, but with a Vespa, you feel like your part of it, you can feel and smell the air whooshing by you.. each area completely different. I love it. Really, really love it. Being on the Vespa is definately something i'll always remember about Ham..

We got to a veryveryvery nice place in Hauptbahnhof that had been converted from a gym into a resteraunt.. Tried Red-Vino 'properly' for the first time.. but like all times before, my tum gets a little upset and I flush.. I must have had about 2/3's of a glass, meaning Julian finished the rest.. quite gladly I think ;) We started with Brushettas which were yummiiieee, then I had chicken & rice, Julio having Pizza. Ohhhhhh, theeee best meal i've had yet. Mmmmmm. The chicken was in some kind of juices, and it was.. ah, perfect! We moved to the sofas to finish the wine, and stayed til around 11ish. We decided to leave the Vespa and walk back to his - the walk was along the Alster, and it was a nice night. The walk was gorgeous, the Alster looked perfect at midnight.. We stopped off at a bar/cafe on the water and had a drink & pretzel. It was so so lovely.. the city was lit up in the darkness and everything was quiet.. except from the sound of the water splashing against the wall. We headed off around 0:30am and stopped off at some swings.. Julian attempted to fly over the top, but got scared and jumped off before he made it.. whereas I swung right over and landed gracefully with two feet on the ground. okaaaaaai, so now im talking rubbish, but we swung for 5minutes, and continued on the walk. A couple of minutes later we stopped again at the boat docking station & took a seat. Enjoyed the quietness and view for another 5-10mins and eventually made our way home just after 1am. Popped open a bottle of white and took about an hour looking through potential movies to watch. In the end... made the very smart decision of beginning a new Team.. TEAM 24, here we are.. Starting on series 4, only one episode down, but loooving it. Jack Bauer you rock.. But.. Wentworth Miller - you'll always be number one!

Thanks for a great day Jools! x

Happy Birthday Britta.. and im sooo sorry I missed your day. And Andreas, sorry I missed our coffee.

I know, I know, been a baaad girl today. But Super-Sleepy day. Only because of such an eventful start at 5am.. and a visit from Julio at 10am.. fully equipt with Santa Fe and OJ and tulips - a very nice and accepted apology :) Around 3pm we headed out for a subway - Steak & Cheese, und Chick Fajita - to be specific! Has been a while for both of us, so tasted extra good. Last time I subway'ed it was before christmas.. with you Andy, when we were shopping for presents :) Julian popped off to work and I went to meet Agur, Charlie and Mike for a movie at the Grindel. I love it there, so cool. We saw '300' which was ACE, such a good movie. Reminded me of 'Gladiator' - with the true warrior & a heart of gold. Total sucker for the 'family man' in movies. But reeally guys, you all have to see this, really, reeeally good. And different.. the use of colour and the way its shot is definately unique, even if its a slightly predictable story line. See it asap! Go.. now!

I got home about 8pm and had a little chat with Andreas online.. I was literally falling asleep sitting up (not because ur boring Andreas..) but as suggested by him, I thought i'd take a powernap - seeing as Britta was busy until 11pm. I dont remember toooo well, but I woke up a few times, realising I was missing her brithday and should get up.. I even sent some texts, but not thinking right.. I put my head back on the pillow.. 'oh just for a minute..' and then its 3am. And what do you know? I'm wide awake.. pretty much had a full nights sleep! Got a text from Jools saying he was watching some PB, so jumped a taxi to his, managed to watch one episode then fell asleep again. Im useeeeeless! But in my defence, I think I have a mini-ful-cold or hayfever. Just a little bunged up. Just wanna say sooorrriiiieeee one more time for the complete uselessness of me today/tonight.

Boooo me, I know....

Mittwoch 4th April 2007 - Train pass no.2

I love to blog, yes i doo. You will all be releived to know - theres no photos today. For a change. The highlight of my day being lunch with Marcel in the sunshine.. a Vipiano pizza on the steps in the City. So nice and sunny again today.. how is it back home?? Quite an educational lunch, eh Marcel.. I learned various sporting facts and now know why the Commonwealth Games is called the Commonwealth Games.. (not that I didnt know before..) Thank yoou for enlightening me on MY countrys history! yes yes

Oh, oh oh.. my box arrived this morning. Whooooopdeedo. Was so exciting looking inside.. but to be honest, the only thing of use is my Uni materials. Which I could have downloaded cheaper than £65. but neeever mind!
Also finally got a box from the postie, and a few other bits and bobs on my way to Hauptbanhhof - where I got my monthly ticket. Geez, my day seems sad if im blogging about my train ticket.. but I pretty much woke up, unpacked, met marcel, shopped til 4 and went home to get ready for work. Ah, work..

Well, easy shift. Actually a really nice shift. On with Steven and Eamon, with Becky doing the back.. leaving me to enjoy and concentrate on the front. Tables were all full, but not busy. Niiice shift. So now i'm home, 1am, and waiting for yooou, Andreas to get online.. quiiick or i'll fall asleep on you :)

Big day ahead tomorrow.. which reminds me..
seeing as its past midnight.. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRITTA!!!!!

Dienstag 3rd April 2007 - Lazy Daisy

Britta and I woke up about 2:30pm today.. a little hazey. Always fun! We had a reminis of the night before and headed off to Gloria for some breakfast. Little Miss Britta hardly touching her food.. with her wobbley hands. As she said, maybe shes getting old.. 27 on Thursday! hehehe.. just kidding, and don't worry dolliie, your not over the hill yet ;) Thursdays gonna roooock! Anyhoo, I munched the cheese and meats, got through two biig glasses of OJ and felt back to normal.. but sleepyish. Got home and chilled out.. updated my blog as you can see.

Saw a little sausage dog outside of Budni, barking away at me. I fell in love. Hence the new addition of the gorgeous dach picture on my page. Im sad really.. it upsets me that I can't have one. I want one. sssssssooooooo much. Not getting one is probably the most unselfish thing iv ever done - which proves how much i reeealllyy love them, doesnt it? Does that even make sense? Either way, I want one. Not sure how many more sausages I can watch trooping along the streets.. soon enough I will be overtaken with WANT and snatch one into my handbag.. I fear this time is soon..

Anyhoo.. as recommended by Andreas, tonight I chilled out, no partying with stangers or boozing. Just a nice stroll down to the Shanze stopping for a ice-cold cola and a tanning session.. where I fell asleep. Its only happened once before and its funny, you wake up soo confused and muzzy, having noo clue as to where you are - and slightly light headed from the heat. But nice and broon, you'd be proud Courtney!

German lessons cancelled again.. impressive company eh.

And Daaad.. have fun in Italy, and don't take your laptop - relax :)

Montag 2nd April - 'Oh what night'

*Photos linked to blog title*

aaaaaaahahahahaha, oh man.. what.. a night..

Britta and I have thourghly discussed what we should blog about, and what we shouldn't.. I'll keep it to the point ;) Well in the morn, Jools had uni, well.. afternoon.. so we grabbed a quick breakfast in the sun and headed off. I got home and had thee quickest shower and blowdry.. managing to get into town for 4pm to meet Charlie, Agur and Brit for lunch at Alex. This time the penne pasta and it was disgusting. The only good thing was the cola I had.. even the water tasted like dirt..and it was from a glass bottle. Weird. We sat in the breezy sun having a gab, planning the night ahead and suddenly we noticed a woman lying on the ground with a bloody nose.. not sure what the story is, but the ambulance came and carted her away.. poor lady. We went to the Alsterhaus so the boys could buy some gear - rich kids! But then I left to meet Andreas at 6pm. We were a little confused about our meeting point, so I ended up waiting on the bridge outside Europassage wondering where he was. While I waiting a group of about 10 Turkish boys came over and started saying all this stuff.. weirdos. All but two left who kept asking to have a picture with me.. like they've never seem a girl with Blonde hair before.. and when asked where I was from the guy said, "schottland?? huh, whats that!" WE'RE A COUNTRY, ARENT WE??? He asked if it was a city in England, hahaha!

Anyyyyway, got a hold of Andreas & went for coffee at the boat resteraunt on the Alster. soooooooo lovely, as always. When we arrived we were greeted with a glass of bubbly and ordered some cappucinos and cake. We got a table against the window looking directly onto the water.. the swans were playing next to us.. but thank gawwwd for the glass separating. German swans are evil. Quite like the Scottish ones ;) but nice to look at..
Had such a nice waiter too.. even trying to teach me German! We talked for a while and 8pm had to part ways.

And the night begins. Geez, I dunno where to start: I was ready, Britta came over, the wine was popped.. after a little gabbing, my flatmate came into my room and was reeeally upset: problems with his girlfriend.. i think quite a bit of time passed without realising.. we were 2 hours late for the party and we hadnt even contacted the guys to tell them.. so sorry Agur, Charlie, Andreas.. In the end, got there, met everyone, had some cocktails and a little fun.. 2am hit and we were so so so hungry that we had to leave. On the way through the Reeperbahn to our safe haven (Mcdonalds), we ummm... well basically we were silly drunkan girls and got slapped with a 160euro charger for a bottle of champagne.. that wasnt even drank by us. Bluuuuuuuh, we escaped with Britta only having to pay 10euros for it. An hour had passed and still no food.. Eventually got there and scoffed some freshly burning fries. We ended up talking to some people in McDonalds and after aloooot of persuading, went to Harburg and partied with them til 7am.. access to unlimited booze.. oooohhhhh.. Nuff' said!

Britta, this night will remain with me for a loooong time. For many reasons! Haha!

Sonnerstag 1st April 2007 - Happy Birthday Dad!

alles Gute zum Geburtstag DAD!!!! Sorry I couldnt be there :(

Where did I leave off? Oh yeah..10am Sunday morning, Julio popped by after a night out.. so basically Sunday was lazzziiiieeee.. we hardly moved a muscle until 8pm for Currywurst in Mullenkamp. And um, thats pretty much the entire day - went to Julians after dinner and watched Prison Break til the early hours. Definately one of my top 5 things to do in Hamburg ;)

Episode 17.. dont want it to end..

Ps, How cuuuuuuuuute was Jack on the phone.. I miss u terrible twosomes, and Dad, seeing as they cant read my blog yet, please tell them for me. Really, really miss them..

Samtag 31st März 2007

This should be a short one: Managed to drag my ass outta bed at noon for work at 2pm.. Left Julians and got my usual Backwich Santa Fe and decided to eat on the way to save time.. Buuuuuuut.. Got on the bus, sat down.. took a bite of my delicious backwich and next thing I know.. everyone on the bus is staring at me and the driver is shouting down his tannoid at someone on the bus.. OH ME????!!!!! I had nooo idea, but he was saying, "oi, no food on the bus, put it away.. excuse me, put it away.. now" Embarrassing? Um, yeah, a little.
Next a sweet little boy sat across from me and began talking German.. He was saying something like, "oh, Backwich Santa Fe, Ja? Ohh, gut, gut, tomatoes, Ja, Ja? Mmmmm" - I think maybe hes more of a fan than me :) He kept on talking, but from then I smiled and nodded.. I had nooooo idea what the boy was saying..

Work was soooooooooooooooooooooooo pants, for some reason, I wasnt feeling it. Usually im running around like a headless chicken, but today, even with the usual 30 stags I seem to get every Saturday Afternoon, I had no energy. I reeally just wanted to go home and chill out.. I managed to get away for 7pm, but what a loooong 5 hour shift it seemed to be. The last hour was a little better when a group of Germans came in and took a table in the back: they were playing some singing game and when I brought them their Guiness, one guy took my hand and sang, "You arrrrreeeee my sunshineeeeeeeee, my only sunshine, you make me happppyyy when skies are greeeyyy" It put a little smile of my face after a boring old shift! Just as I was leaving the same guy was standing on one of our bar stools singing to the entire pub.. probably an interesting evening at Finnigans.

I got home and had planned this reeeeally nice pampering night for myself (
the first one in what feels like months) then maybee heading to the Kiez afterwards with work buds. But I picked up some food, jumped in for a shower -managed to give myself a facial and then checked some emails. Next thing I know.. Im thinking to myself: oh maybe il rest my head for a few minutes.. this was at 11pm, and at 2:30am I woke up feeling a little disorientated. I put on some music and perked up a little, then ended up staying up til 5am blogging etc. Got a nice wake up call from a certian wassted boy on the Kiez at 7am and stayed up til 8am. Feel asleep again and at half 10.. had a visitor so my sleep was interrupted ONCE MORE!!! I think sometimes when u either sleep too much or your sleep is broken up, you feel baad. Almost like your more tired and need more sleep.. no matter what the 'total hours of sleep' amounts to.. if you get what I mean?!

And I thought this was gonna be a short one..

Geeeeez, its just taken me about 15 minutes to try & remember what I done on Friday.. weird. To be honest, the morning is a blur, but i thiiiink, I spent most of it arranging my box to be shipped over. Didn't I?? Well, anyhoo, I know for sure that a little later in the day Andreas & I met for lunch at Alex. Schnitzel no.2. We sat outside despite the fact that it was dull, cold and windy.. the wind sweaping towards us - throwing spray from the Alster fountain riiiiiight into us. Ah, refreshing! We braved the full hour outdoors and then headed inside to finish off our drinks. We then took a trip around the Alsterhaus and various shops in search of some specific goodies... and finished with a coffee in Balzac whilst Andreas translated hair colouring instructions :)

Thank you for your help today sweeeeeeetie!

Got back to the flat kinda late - 7:30pm, and had to buy some food for the evening.. soooo opted for the Turkish shop near the flat - bascially just got a little of everything: pastes, breads, olives, meats 'Aspragus', etc, and finally got to Julians around 10ish (sorriiee) but i had a little hair-colour-problem. We ate some delicious food, drank some bubbly (that went down easier than water) then a biiig bottle of white and chatted til the early hours.. THE MEANING OF LIFE AND ALL THAT JAZZ ;) Niice..
